As the years slip by most citizens regard their passing as an inevitability. If significant events have taken place, they are marked as being historically noteworthy; their evaluation is left to future generations who are in better position to assess them objectively. In 1992 hopes for the realization of the integration of the European nations after centuries of strife and power-grabbing take a further step forward. | Only few people realize the part that God?s hand plays in ordering the course of history. ?There is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God? (Romans 13:1). A statement of such force and certainty should make us stop and think. It means that God uses statesmen and rulers for the fulfillment of His purposes. Political decisions may throw millions of people into sudden consternation; alliances may be formed or hostilities break out. Yet all who trust in God can remain perfectly calm even in the midst of contrary circumstances or adverse conditions. They know the Lord to be a solid rock. He has set His objective and is working towards it; in that He is immoveable. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
God?s ultimate purpose is that all mankind should acknowledge the supremacy of the one Man who ever carried out all His holy will: His only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ. On earth His life was perfect; in death He made propitiation for the sins of the world. He has been given a name above every name, ?that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow? (Philippians 2:10). | It is to impress upon our readers what claims the Lord Jesus Christ has on our allegiance that this calendar has been prepared. May quiet meditation on its daily message bring the desired blessing to every soul!
